Innovative Programs
and
Partnerships

In order to maximize our effectiveness in our communities, we've partnered with others to develop innovative programs.

  • Received a grant from MetLife Foundation to provide afterschool programs at Girls Inc, Glasgow Boys and Girls Club (Barren County), Barren County YMCA and the Barren County Trojans Times After-School Child Care.

  • Partnered with the The Mayor's Dollar Wi$e Campaign in Bowling Green, KY which promotes on-going financial education programs in the community. The grant funded Junior Achievement's "Personal Finance" curriculum for the entire freshman class at Bowling Green High School. Students learned how to make informed decisions about the effective use of income to reach personal financial goals.

  • Partnered with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and its Workforce Development Committee to the address the need to promote great work ethic among high school seniors.  A new initiative called the Work Ethic Seal began in August 2005 with the graduating class of 2005.  This program is active in all four Bowling Green/Warren County High Schools and has expanded to Simpson County High School as well as Edmonson County High School. The local Chambers partner with local high schools to help students better understand the importance of strong work ethic skills.  These skills are essential to students if they are to secure and maintain successful, meaningful employment.  Students who enroll in the program must meet the following minimum standards set by existing business and industry and the workforce development committee:
    1. Maintain average daily attendance of 96% or higher
    2. Only 2 unexcused absences during senior year
    3. Only 2 unexcused tardies during senior year
    4. Student records must be free of disciplinary referrals for fighting, theft, weapon possession, vandalism, arson or possession of illegal substances
    5. Has a G.P.A. of 2.5 with no failures for any grading period during senior year
    6. Must attend the "JA Success Skills" class presented by Junior Achievement (topics include:  personal presentation, workplace responsibilities, interviewing skills, employment applications and resume preparation)
    7. Must be involved in at least two of the following:  organized team sport, organized non-team sport, extra-curricular programs (band, chorus, school clubs, etc.), part-time employment of 10 hours per week for 4 consecutive months during the school year or a minimum of 20 hours per week during the prior summer, participate in a verifiable community project.

Students who successfully meet these criteria will:
